Study Abroad in Berlin: Academics
Attendance
Students exceeding the permitted number of unexcused absences may lose all or partial credit.
Class time
Students may take one course or a combination of two courses from two different streams for a maximum of 6 credits. Classes meet for 45-minute sessions and are taught Monday through Friday. Exams are taken during class time. German language is not required. Students should note that extensive preparation is required for the optional courses in English.
Computer facilities
Students have access to the Internet and computer facilities at the University.
Grades
No AIFS participant is permitted to take a course without receiving a letter grade. Pass/Fail grade options are not available.
Internet
An Internet café a few minutes’ walk from the student apartments offers telephone facilities and pre-paid calling cards as well as Internet services.
Student advising
The AIFS Resident Director provides academic advising and serves as a liaison between students and the University.
Transcripts
Transcripts are issued by Humboldt University.
