Internships in Beijing: Overview

Program at a glance

  • Spring semester
  • Open to college freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors
  • 2.5 minimum GPA required
  • Program fee includes tuition, housing, meals, cultural activities, airfare if selected, and more
  • Special program in Mandarin study for beginners, focusing on conversational aspects, taught in Mandarin over first 4 weeks by University professors for 3 credits
  • Special courses taught in English on Chinese Culture and preparation for work in China offered over the first 4 weeks and on Chinese Economic and Business Development taught one day a week for 10 weeks during internship placement (3 credits each)
  • Students are enrolled in the Beijing Language and Culture University and live in on-campus student housing with a meal allowance for 3 meals daily Monday to Friday  to use in on campus facilities or similar, with access to the social and cultural life of the university
  • The local AIFS Resident Director and staff organize cultural activities and housing, act as a liaison between students and the university, and are available 24/7 in case of emergencies
  • Transcripts issued by Beijing Language and Culture University
  • Student visa must be obtained from the Chinese consulate before departure from the U.S.
