Study Abroad in Beijing: Overview
Program at a glance
- Spring semester
- Open to college freshmen, sophomores, juniors
and seniors
- 2.5 minimum GPA required
- Program fee includes tuition, housing, meals, excursions and cultural activities,
airfare if selected, one week visit to Nanjing, Suzhou and Shanghai, and more
- Program in Mandarin language study for beginner,
intermediate and advanced levels taught in Mandarin by University
professors for 6 credits.
- Special courses taught in English on Chinese
Culture and Philosophy, Chinese History, Economic and Business Development in China, and International Relations/Chinese Foreign Policy (3 to 4 credits). A unique program
for AIFS students
- Students are enrolled in the Beijing Language and Culture University
and live in on-campus student
housing with a meal allowance for on- campus and nearby facilities and
access to the social and cultural life of the University
- The local AIFS Resident Director and staff organize cultural activities and housing, act as a liaison between students and the university, and are available 24/7 in case of emergencies
- Transcripts
issued by Beijing Language and Culture University
- Student visa must be obtained from the
Chinese consulate before departure from the U.S.
