Study Abroad in São Paulo: Cultural Excursions

From São Paulo, it is easy to reach many other locations in Brazil. The beaches on the Atlantic coast are just a short distance away; within easy reach for a day visit.

Guarujá (day visit)

Included in program fee

Students take a day trip to Guarujá, a beautiful beach in the state of São Paulo.

Transportation, lunch and some monitored activities are included.

Embu das Artes (day visit)

Included in program fee

Embu is known as the handcraft capital of the State of São Paulo. It is 28 km from the city of São Paulo and has a typical colonial architecture. At Embu we can find many artists in their art galleries, shops, and an open air fair during the weekends. The Feira de Artes and Artesanato de Embu (Arts and Handicraft of Embu) was launched in the late 1960s, and it has been attracting tourists from all over the world to the city ever since. During our visit we will visit the Museu de Arte Sacra, former Jesuit school in 1730, with many pieces of the 17th Century. We will see also the Igreja Nossa Senhora do Rosário, one of the rare examples of the Baroque architecture.

Transportation and  lunch  are included.

Optional 3-day visit to Rio de Janeiro ($845)

Fly to Rio de Janeiro and transfer to a hotel situated in the famous Copacabana or Ipanema district.

The next day, visit to the statue of Christ the Redeemer located at Brazil’s most recognized location, the top of Corcovado Hill. Then head to Pão de Açucar (“Sugar Loaf”) which has become one of Rio’s main attractions due to its sheer height and unmistakable outline.

The next morning, take a tour of Jardim Botânico then enjoy free time before returning to São Paolo.

Flights, transportation, accommodations, breakfast, lunch and entrance fees as indicated are included. Students must enroll and pay for this excursion by April 15. Students who apply after the deadline may enroll subject to availability. If a minimum enrollment of 10 is not achieved, the tour may be cancelled. Once paid for in the U.S. optional excursions are non-refundable.
