Study Abroad in Salzburg: Academics

Attendance

Attendance is required for full credit. Unexcused absences are not permitted. Students with unexcused absences will receive an ‘incomplete’.

Class time

Classes meet for 45-minute sessions and are taught Monday through Friday. AIFS classes total 45 contact hours including class time, excursions and papers. Exams are taken during class time.

Grades

No AIFS participant is permitted to take a course without receiving a letter grade. Pass/Fail grade options are not available.

Libraries

In addition to the extensive University libraries, AIFS has its own selection of books related to the AIFS courses available for student reference at no extra charge, although a deposit of 30 euros is required to check out books.

Student advising

The AIFS Resident Director provides academic advising and serves as a liaison between students and the University.

Transcripts

Transcripts are issued by the University of Salzburg.
