Study Abroad in Cairns and Fiji: Overview
Program at a glance
- Pacific Studies course at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji (1 credit)
- Choice of two courses at James Cook University in Cairns focusing on either the Australian Environment or Australian Cinema (3 credits)
- Open to high school graduates, college freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 required
- Program fee includes tuition, housing, some meals, excursions
and cultural activities, airfare if selected, and more
- Earn up to 4 semester credits
- Visit Fiji (7 nights), Sydney (3 nights), Cairns (13 nights), and Cape Tribulation (2 nights)
- The local AIFS Program Coordinator and staff organize cultural activities and housing, act as a liaison between students and the university, and are available 24/7 in case of emergencies
- Australian tourist visa required at student expense. Apply online for an Electronic Tourist Visa (ETA)
- Visas are not required in Fiji for U.S. citizens
- Transcripts issued by James Cook University in Cairns plus Certificate issued by the University of the South Pacific
